HSBC honoured at Euromoney 2024 Awards for Excellence
Euromoney Magazine has honoured HSBC in a series of significant regional awards at its 2024 Awards for Excellence programme. HSBC was named ‘Best Investment Bank in the Middle East’, ‘Best Bank for Sustainable Finance’, and ‘Best Bank for Financing’ in the region.
In addition, HSBC was named the ‘World’s Best Bank for Islamic Financing’ in the Euromoney Islamic Finance Awards 2024 alongside accolades for ‘Best International Islamic Bank’ in both Saudi Arabia and Malaysia.
Stephen Moss, Regional CEO, HSBC Middle East, North Africa and Turkiye: “The Middle East is an integral part of global financing flows and has an important role to play in a transition that delivers both energy security and a net zero future. These awards are reflective of our scale and heritage in the Middle East which, combined with our global network and international expertise, gives us the ability to connect clients across the world to opportunities in the Middle East.”
The region’s capital markets have been a relative bright spot of activity in the global financing landscape, reflective of their increasing international appeal and resilience. Issuers in the Middle East and North Africa raised over US$10 billion in 2023 while the region’s investors are offering international markets a deep and alternative capital pool.
HSBC has continued to help clients across sectors and geographies to navigate uncertainty, to capitalize on opportunity and to re-open markets, allowing access to previously unavailable sources of funding. In 2023 HSBC led the market across the financing product suite in the Middle East, claiming the #1 positions in the ECM, DCM, ECA Financing and MLA league tables.
Julian Wentzel, Head of Global Banking, HSBC Middle East, North Africa and Turkiye: “Our strength across every investment banking product continues to make us the go-to bank for clients that are emerging as some of the world’s largest and most significant issuers and investors. HSBC delivered one of our best years on record, but we do so in partnership with our clients.”
Over the course of the year, HSBC cemented its position as the Best Bank for Sustainable Finance in the Middle East both by volume and value, and importantly as a partner in supporting the development of the region’s sustainable finance capabilities and regulations.
Taken together, this series of significant awards demonstrate the breadth of HSBC’s network, the depth of its expertise, and its access to deep pools of finance.
