A virtual experience designed to spark ideas, introduce Fintech solutions and invite feedback and open participation from HSBC employees. Welcome to a sneak peek of HSBC’s 2020 FinTech Hive Speed Dating Event.

As a founding partner of DIFC’s FinTech Hive accelerator program in UAE, HSBC has been directly supporting FinTechs for over 3 years in the region.

The FinTech Hive is a financial technology accelerator programme run by the Dubai International

Finance Centre (DIFC) which allows startups the opportunity to test, develop and adapt their solutions

to meet the needs of customers in the financial services and insurance sectors.

This year’s participants come from a wide international background. Covering over 6 countries, diversity goes beyond their geolocation to cover a wide variety of market trends with lots of impactful customer opportunities. During the presentations, they proposed solutions to systemic problems, such as how to securely and cost effectively verify customers’ addresses in emerging markets, explored how tools can improve personalisation of offers while reducing customer churn, and offered improvements in the digital payments landscape.

The programme goes much beyond our kick off event and consists of a 14-week curriculum, where finalists receive mentorship from prominent financial institutions, such as HSBC, to help bring their innovative ideas to life.

Over 600 applications were received for this year’s program, out of which 17 finalists were selected by the consortium of DIFC partners. 30% of this year’s applications came from the MENAT region, demonstrating the importance of our efforts towards building a better ecosystem of talent locally. HSBC has aligned their innovation strategy and digital priorities to select the 6 FinTechs for this year!
